A recent high school graduate is faced with two options, either go to a business school where his father wants him to go to, or get a full time job. However he decides to defy his father and go to Hawaii. Trouble is he has no money. Along the way he comes to understand his parents and eventually bonds with his father.
River Phoenix stars in the story of a teenage beat poet struggling with his libido. This is the Director's Cut of the teen classic with music by the Academy Award winning Elmer Bernstein and narration by William Richert, co star of "My Own Private Idaho". "Jimmy Reardon" also introduces Matthew Perry and Johnny Galecki and features a rare performance by the writer and actor Ann Magnuson.
